It’s only a week into the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and we already have witnessed crackers of the matches between the teams. The Mega Sunday is here and Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders are set to take on each other. Gujarat Titans led by India’s new limited overs skipper Hardik Pandya has set the tone by winning their first two matches of the IPL 2023. Being the defending champions, this type of performance wasn’t a surprise from the Gujarat Titans. The team already had a great set of players and now they have one more in the form of Sai Sudharshan. Sai Sudharshan played a brilliant knock of 62 runs from 48 balls against Delhi Capitals which ensured victory for Gujarat. Apart from the batting department, the bowling department primarily led by Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan, Joshua Little, and Aljzari Joseph has performed extremely well in the first two matches.
Kolkata Knight Riders on the other hand is coming to Ahmedabad after dismantling RCB by 81 runs at the Eden Gardens. RCB which looked in red hot form following their victory against MI was held back by the partnership of 103 runs between Lord Shardul Thakur (68) and Rinku Singh (46) at the Eden Gardens. Both the players helped KKR to set the mammoth target of 205 runs followed by a great bowling effort from the bowling unit. Shardul Thakur was rewarded as man of the match for his blistering innings of 68(29) and a wicket.
Both the teams are now going to meet each other at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 9. Gujarat Titans would like to carry its winning momentum and try to stay on the top in the points table. Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking forward to disrupting the winning streak of the defending champions and deliver a performance similar to what they did against RCB.
Both the teams have faced each other just once in the IPL where Gujarat Titans got the better of Kolkata Knight Riders and won the match by 8 runs. This is the second time where both teams will encounter and dominate each other. KKR would be looking to avenge and equal the scoreline with 1-1.
